Tours and Booking Information

Cape Town and its surroundings, and South Africa in general, have a lot to offer to visitors. Sightseeing, wildlife, cultural and shopping tours are available. Many of the fascinating places in the City of Cape Town, the Cape Peninsula and the surrounding areas may be toured in half a day, or at a more leisurely pace over a full day, and among the most popular of such destinations are:

• Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (famed for its restaurants and shopping malls)
• Table Mountain (the natural “icon” of Cape Town)
• Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years)
• Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope (the “tip” of the African continent)
• Kirstenbosch Gardens, Company Gardens and the Castle of Good Hope
• The picturesque Winelands of Stellenbosch, Franshoek and Paarl
• Hermanus (famed for its whale watching in September)

For visitors to Cape Town wanting to travel further afield, there are more distant but easily accessible destinations within South Africa and in the neighbouring countries. Tours to these places generally require more than a day, and the following destinations (all world-renowned tourist attractions) are recommended:

• The Garden Route (Cango Caves and the Tsitsikama National Park)
• The Kruger National Park (Big 5 Game Viewing)
• The Drakensburg Mountains
• The Victoria Falls (one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World)
• The Etosha Game Reserve (Namibia)
• The Okavango Delta (Botswana)

Delegates to the SEMC 2019 International Conference will be able to plan to make their tours either before or after the Conference. For accompanying persons, tours will be arranged during the Conference. A professional tour company, Panorama Tours, has been appointed to arrange sightseeing excursions, leisure tours and safaris for all SEMC 2019 delegates and accompanying persons. Details of these tours will be placed here in due course.
