Registration & Exhibition


In order to register to attend SEMC 2022, all participants (Authors and Non-Authors alike) must (i) submit a completed registration form, and (ii) remit the applicable registration fee. The registration fee will differ, depending on whether one is an Author of a paper or a Non-Author participant. The applicable rates will be indicated on the registration form. The registration fee will cover a full set of the published SEMC 2022 Proceedings, attendance at all plenary and parallel sessions of the Conference, the Welcome Reception, the Conference Dinner, as well as lunches and refreshments throughout the Conference.

The final deadline for registration for attendance at the Conference is 20 May 2022 for Authors of papers, and 15 July 2022 for Non-Author participants. Early registration is encouraged for both Authors and Non-Authors; there is an early-bird discount for Authors and Non-Authors who register before 28 February 2022. To encourage participation by students, a reduced registration rate is offered to all fulltime research students who intend to attend the Conference and present a paper. To qualify for this rate, proof of full-time student status as at 1 September 2022 will be required.

Only papers of Authors who have registered will be published in the Conference Proceedings. Authors of papers will need to plan to register by 20 May 2022 in order to ensure that their papers are included in the published Proceedings. In this regard, a single registration will cover the publication of not more than 2 papers. If an Author wishes to submit 3 or more papers, an extra charge will be payable, unless one or more co-authors will also register to attend the conference.

Given the uncertainties of the times, some authors might have health concerns regarding overseas travel next year. To ensure the participation of all authors, the organisers are making provision for remote attendance, although the expectation is that most authors will attend the Conference in person. Authors who choose to participate remotely will be required to send a pre-recorded video of their presentation, which will be scheduled in the Programme and played in the relevant session. Such authors will be given full access to the e-book of the Proceedings, but will not receive the printed book of short papers. They will be required to pay the normal registration fee less the amount indicated on the registration form.

Local participants should make payment in South African Rands. International participants should remit the registration fee in either Euro or US Dollars (both currencies are equally acceptable).

Cancellation Policy: Refunds on cancellations are subject to a deduction to cover administration costs and bank charges. The deduction shall be 15% of the registration fee paid if the cancellation is notified before 31 May 2022. No refunds shall be given for any cancellations made after 31 May 2022, but in the event of a previously registered delegate being unable to attend the conference for whatever reason, it will be acceptable to have another person attending in his or her place.
